Audio Vision Canada (AVC) is the first Canadian operation set up specifically to produce and deliver described video products and services of value to more than 2.4 million Canadians who face difficulties seeing or accessing video-based information.
Using specially developed computer software, AVC describers write a concise, objective narration of the visual aspects and actions that convey meaning to the video production as a whole. The narration is recorded, then carefully woven through the original sound track without disrupting the dialogue or sound effects.
AVC offers training for describers who can then be contracted to work from home anywhere in Canada. Employment opportunities reflect the NBRS policy of hiring disadvantaged workers people with disabilities, sole parents, visible minorities and people on social or unemployment assistance.
