The crisis-driven nature of shelters for abused women and children pose many challenges in achieving quality of service. Women's Community House created an organizational review project to determine a path to succeed in exemplary service to abused women and their children.
Determining the Best We Can Be is a 12-step process that provides all staff members/board, volunteers and residents with an opportunity to be actively involved in innovative activities with creative outcomes. The success of this project has depended upon active planning by staff.
Each staff member agreed to a Commitment to the Process Contract, indicating their choice of participating in the process or supporting the process by covering shifts. The goal was to explore creative problem-solving techniques to facilitate innovative thinking.
