The Family Reconnection Centre is a unique pilot project delivering and developing services to address a tough new issue threatening families and young children - substance-abuse.
The Family Reconnection Centre is Canada's first collaborative initiative to address the difficult family and child issues related to crack and heroin drug abuse through a comprehensive interagency program.
The aim has been to create a program that can remain flexible and responsive to the needs of the participants. The program is offered by a skilled Early Childhood Educator, staff and is intended to achieve early intervention to enhance the children's cognitive, behavioural and relationship development.
It also provides opportunities for the mothers and the children to learn how to play together, enjoy each other, and begin to develop secure and healthy relationships.
